Art Impressions | flowers and pail

Hi everyone!!

I have another watercolor series card to show you today!! :)

Here I used the pail and the same flowers as last week with the watering can. I also painted a blue wash in the background and that's changing the things up quite a bit. There aren't two cards that are the same. That's the very fun thing about these stamps! :)

And you know, if you are now ready to take the plunge and get some stamps from this collection but don't know where to start because you want them all, I'd maybe start with the set of the project you like the most. You can see them all right here. Pick one and buy the sets that you need to complement the image you want to do. For example, maybe you'll need a tree or some flowers or foliage to complete the project. It's a nice way to start a good collection.

Please bare with me while I move

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted here in a while and felt like I owe you an explanation. I also felt the need to write again. :)

WE ARE MOVING

So for the ones who still don't know (which means you are not following me on Facebook and/or Instagram. Hint Hint!), I'll be moving very soon. My husband got a job transfer and we'll be going south, to another state, at the beginning of July. What does this imply?

1. Selling our house: showings, keeping the house clean everyday, packing up half of my studio and moving it to the basement - sigh!!

2. Finding a new home without being there where the houses are!!!

3. A husband on the road which leaves me alone most of the time to do all of the above.

That implies lots of stress and of question marks for me and my two girls who have been crying  everyday for a month! It's tough.

On the scrapbooking side, I have been left with no creative energy for a while. Thankfully, I managed to finished 2 months in advance my work for one of my Design Team. My second Design Team is being very very very understanding and are letting me breathe and I appreciate it more than they can know. As for the third Design Team, I found enough inspiration and time to keep rolling. I'm working very hard to be ahead of my assignments so that when we pack up, at the end of June, I can be without scraping for a month or two without being late with my assignments. (You'll see all these pages poping up here in June and July).

It's pretty crazy around here right now. When my girls finally are sleeping around 9:30-10:00, I have to clean the house and have it ready for showings the next day. Scrapbooking? I don't have that on my mind very much. Or lets say that I simply have no time right now.

VACATIONS

In addition to that, we were on vacation at the beginning of May. It was planned before my husband was transferred so we didn't know it would be like that! But you know, even though it was probably not the best time to leave, it has done me much good!! We went away for a week. We spent 5 days at Disney and 2 days at the beach. It was awesome!!

There was family time. All of us 4 together.

There was princesses hugging.

And when my husband had to leave for 2 days on a business trip (I know, crazy!!!), I was lucky enough that my parents were only three hours away and they could come and help me!!! I was so so so lucky!!!!

There was time to forget all the craziness happening in our life.

And there was sun, and salty water, and shells, and photo taking, and love, and laughs, and so many things to refill my soul and recharge my batteries.

A NEW HOUSE

When we came back from vacations, Patrick's number of days away grew bigger and bigger and bigger. But I kind of got used to be alone with the girls. And I have very good friends here who take care of me and spoil me very well.

So anyway, as Patrick was in Charlotte one week, he went to visit some more houses (on a previous house hunting trip we had visited 30+ houses…!!) and guess what. We bought a house. Just like that. I felt like in the Zillow commercial. I haven't seen it. Only pictures. It has a pool. It's small. But hey, if he thinks we could be happy there, then I guess we'll make it happen.

BIRTHDAY

Oh, and last week, the day after we bought the house, it was my birthday. I was to be alone, but Maya reminded me:

"You are not alone, mommy, Maya and Arielle are here."

And she couldn't have said it better. The whole day, I didn't have a minute to be sad or tot hunk that Patrick wasn't there. We got a surprise showing, which means we got to clean all morning and go out for lunch (we chose Flatbread - our favorite place). :) And we then went to the playground, and I went grocery shopping and picked all my favorites to make myself a one of a kind Birthday Dinner!! :)

Sushi, cucumbers, cheese and olives make me happy. :)

My girls sang to me (they had to start over after Arielle realized they had started the song in English! "No, wait Maya, we have to do this in French.").

I received over 100 wishes from my friends on Facebook. It was an awesome day.

And even Patrick managed to come home one hour before the day was over and he brought roses and chocolate.

And then of course, the long weekend was all mine!! So we went from one restaurant to the other. ;)

Here we are at a Korean BBQ. Really good and different.

VoilĂ ! You are now up to date. :)

I can't wait till you see all the pages I've been creating lately. Please please please bare with me. I'll get back to my normal state when all this craziness is over. I promise!! After all, I'm a hard core scrapper. You know that! ;)

Thanks to be there!!

Marie

Get it Scrapped | Retro filtered photos

Hi everyone!

Today I'd like to share a page that was featured on the Get it Scrapped blog not long ago in an article about using retro filtered photos on our layouts.

here's my page:

This is a story I wanted to tell for a while. Well, actually it's not really a story, but I wanted to have these two pictures next to each other: the picture on the left is me at 3 years old with my mom and my brother at Santa's village (I have very vague memories from that trip - probably all triggered by the pictures I've seen) and the one on the right is a picture we took this summer at the same Santa's village, featuring me at the age of my mom on the old picture and my two daughters at my age on the old photograph. I love to try and find the resemblance between all of us.

The background has a story for itself: After listening to Claudine, Vinnie and Wilna on the Paperclipping Roundtable (Episode #129 Medium in a Nutshell), I felt really courageous and decided to do exactly what they were talking about on the show. I used a stencil to paint Gesso and I sprinkled gold glitters on the wet paint which acted as a glue when it dried.

The glitter were given to me by my mom last Christmas. They are still in their original packaging from 30 years ago and on the packaging we can read the name of the store (which doesn't exist anymore) my mom brought them from, and the price she payed: 75 cents for three big bottles of glitter.

A little bit of journaling. The pictures really is the only thing I want to see.

And a VERY COOL Santa DIE CUT from PRETTY LITTLE STUDIO. The Christmas collection is by far one of my favorite from PLS. The die cuts are just awesome!!

I also used some vellum from Cosmo Cricket and some washi tape.

A fairly simple page, but one I like. A lot.

Thanks for looking and talk to you soon!!

Art impressions | Watering can

Hellop Ai fans!

Today I played with my watering can. :) I love this image!!! I changed the colors bait in the two images and I tried to give it a different look by mating one of the images. I like the one layer card best. What do you think?

And, have you been trying these watercolor stamps?? If so, I'd love to see your attempts. Link your cards up right in the comment section here. :)

Have a great week end,

Get it Scrapped | Golden

Hi everyone!

Are you still there?
I must confess that I have a hard time keeping up with all my scrapbooking projects lately. That includes the blog. As some of you may know, we are moving soon and we are in the midsts of selling the house and finding a new one. It's funny how we have moved 11 times in the past 13 years, but it's the first time that we have to sell our house. Before we were moving from an apartment to the other. It didn't involve showing the house and keeping it in excellent shape all the time, and having to deal with little kids through all that. I am trying to make the best out of the situation right now.

So anyway, as I was in Florida for a week, a couple of layouts of mine came online at different places. I'd like to show them here.

I'll start with this first one I made for Get it Scrapped.

The challenge was to make a page using only the two colors black and gold (and a neutral if needed). I liked the challenge a lot because I LOVE using gold lately and pairing it with black would,t come naturally to me so it was a real challenge and I think that the final look is awesome.

Here are the detail shots:

Before I started working, I gathered many gold embellishments. I have a pretty big collection and to see all that gold on my table made me really happy. When I'm happy, the pages come together easily! :)

I also gathered black embellishments. The crown was cut out of a PL card from one of my Studio Calico PL kit. The cute chipboard accents were also in a Studio Calico kit. The golden title was cut out with my Silhouette out of a glittery golden piece of cardstock.

Gold thread, gold ink, gold photo corners, gold punched stars.

I turned a couple of photo in Black and white and left some other in color. I like the mix.

There you go! :) You can go check out the other pages from the design team at get it Scrapped. The collection is pretty impressive!!

Talk to you again soon!
And thanks for bearing with me while I try to catch my breath.

Marie
