Say a little prayer.

I'm not a church girl, but in France, something resonated with all of us in Notre-Dame and in Sacré Coeur. The girls wanted to light a candle. They even wanted to take a coin home, you know, the ones coming out of the press machine?

So anyway, that day, when they lit up a candle, I made a prayer. A prayer of joy and love and healed hearts. And a month later, I know something happened that day. (I'll leave it to that for now. On my blog anyway.)

I doubled the cut file. In white it just didn't pop out enough, and in bleu neither, so I used both. :)

I played with the tones of the background paper to place my elements on this page. The red candles arrive on the most red part of the background and the grey church + the blue jackets of the girls are on the blue part of the background. You can see a pinkish light in the bottom photo, so I placed it in the pink part of the background.

I then placed my embellishments according to the colors as well. The yellow embellishments found a place next to the whitefish yellowish candles. And the blue and white title goes next to the blue part... Would you have noticed all that hadn't I point it out? Do you think of things like that when you build a layout? Or do you just follow your gut? I do a little bit of both. I think I start with my gut and then try to mix in some design principles. :) Following Debbie Hodge at Get it Scrapped, reading her articles on the blog and doing some assignments for her help me so much to notice these small details. :)

Citrus Twist Kits - Free digital files and December Daily update

Hi everyone!

I made some digital files that you can grab for free on our Citrus Twist Kits Facebook fan page.

There are many ways to use them: print and cut, cut file, overlay on a picture, print on a page/card, use as a stamp and color it and cut it out... the possibilities are infinite!

Here are a couple examples:

The first one comes from DT member Mira, who made a cut file out of the Make a Wish:

I love how she used the negative cut  and added a chipboard star.

Here I printed the "our elf was here on a card that was meant to become a journaling card. I ended up punching it out with a circle punch and using it as an embellishment in a small cluster.

Then I used it on my photo. It's very easy to do. You simply open the .png file of your choice in Photoshop. The writing is on a transparent background so you can grab it with the move tool and slide it on your photo that you also have open in Photoshop. That's it. :)

I decided to make a journaling card with the little light post. I printed it on watercolor paper and cut around to get a 4x6 card. I then painted it with watercolor paint, being careful not to go over the lines with my paintbrush because the ink from the printer will bleed. 

Finally I printed "make a wish" directly on my background.

To make it grey I simply changed the opacity in Photoshop.

Here's how:

Open your file and place it over a background of the size of your choice. I'm working with 6x8 for my December Daily album. Select the layer of the file on the right and you see just above it there's the opacity. Slide the little slider and the color fo your digital file will change to a paler grey.

December Daily - Day 14-15-16 and free cut files

Hi everyone!
Salut tout le monde!

It's kind of crazy around here these days. We are leaving tomorrow to Canada so I'm cramping as much as I can in the little time left… I'm a little worried about what will happen to my December Daily. I might just jot some notes down in my "note" application on my iPhone et rely on the pictures to jog my memory when I come back home after Christmas. With limited space and so much to bring (think gifts and snow gear), I really can't bring my album and a kit with me. Anyway… we'll see as time goes. :)
C'est la folie ici!! Je quitte demain avec les filles, on part au Canada!! En ce moment je suis donc en train de faire une course et j'essaie de faire le plus de choses possible en très peu de temps. Aussi, j'ai un peu peur de ce qui va arriver avec mon December Daily (qui avait si bien commencé!!). Je pense que je vais prendre des petites notes chaque jour, pas exagérément de notes, juste continuer à trouver une histoire pas jour et je vais garder ça précieusement dans mon iPhone pour quand je vais revenir à la maison, après Noël. Je n'ai pas beaucoup d'espace dans ma valise (j'ai pas mal de cadeaux et nos trucs d'hiver!) alors je ne peux pas apporter mon album et un kit de scrap. Impossible. On verra bien ce qui va arriver…

Day15/ Jour 15

Handmade card with a little ink and a quill. I love that the black from the ink is much crisper than the black from the black pen.
Petite carte faite à la main avec une plume et de l'encre noire. J'aime que l'encre noire est beaucoup plus foncé que l'encre de mon crayon.

Day 16/ Jour 16

Lots of French products from Tchoubi on this page. :)

And this is the note brought to us by Harmony the Elf. I typed it with a typewriter font and I scanned her signature and imported it in the text with Photoshop. And of course, I also made a die cut out of it (You'll see it on the 17th)
Voici la fameuse petite note que Harmony nous a apporté. Mon amir a dit que c'était pas mal pratique que le lutin écrive sur des cartes juste de la bonne grandeur pour mon album. Tsé je me dis que si elle nous observe depuis 3 semaines, elle a bien vu que si la carte rentre pas dans mon album, je ne serai pas contente. ;) Pour faire la note j'ai utilisé photoshop. Une écriture Typewriter pour le texte et j'ai écris et scanné son nom pour l'importer dans le texte avec Photoshop. Et bien sûr j'en ai aussi fait un fichier de découpe, que vous verrez le 17. 

Since I didn't want the girls to see the story of the Elf, I hid it behind this black card.
Comme je ne voulais pas que les filles voient l'histoire du lutin, je l'ai écris sur une carte qui est cachée derrière cette carte noire là.

I made the two cards stick together by adding some washi tape and I added a little tab so that it's easier to pull our of the pocket.
J'ai attaché les deux cartes ensemble avec du Washi tape et j'ai ajouté un petit onglet pour que la carte soit plus facile à sortir de la pochette. Les deux cartes sont de Tchoubi.

And I finally created another die cut the size of a full page. It reads: Never stop believing in Magic.
Et finalement j'ai créé une autre découpe de la grandeur d'une page complète.

J'ai créé cette découpe pour mon amie Geneviève. Voici comment elle l'a utilisé dans son propre album de décembre.

December Daily - Day 4-5-6 and freebies

Ah it's nice to be back here with my December Daily to show you!!
Christmas is really approaching and I am as busy as you are all. It's hard to keep doing all the stuff + keeping up with the album and the blog! But I'm getting there. :)
Ah ça fait tellement de bien d'être de retour ici avec la suite de mon album de décembre! C'est pas évident de faire tout ce qu'on a à faire en décembre et d'en plus être à jour dans un projet comme celui-ci. Mais bon, ça va bien. Je suis à jour. 

Ok so today, I would like to show you day 4 to 6.
Alors aujourd'hui j'aimerais vous montrer les jours 4 à 6

Day 4/Jour 4

With the end of day 3 on the left side, I decided to add something to separate Day 3 and 4. To do so, I added a 3" transparency and I decorated it with a glittery star and a badge (Pretty Little Studio).
Étant donné que la fin de mon jour 3 allait se retrouver sur la même page que mon jour 4, j'ai décidé de faire une bonne séparation entre mes jours 3 et 4. J'ai utilisé un acétate qui était dans le kit et je l'ai coupé à 3.5 pouces. Je l'ai embelli avec une étoile brillante et une badge (Pretty Little Studio)

To hide the back side of the star, I mounted a felt snowflake and a wooden candy cane with a little bit of baker's twine.
Pour cacher l'endos de l'étoile, j'ai collé un flocon en feutrine et une petite canne en bois à laquelle j'ai attaché une ficelle.

The red striped card is from me. I made it with watercolor paper and watercolor. I love the imperfect look so much! Day 4 was all about being creative so I added a picture of a couple of bracelets I made with the girls. I added 2 label (one gold and one black) a tiny star jewel and a chipboard piece from my Ali Edwards December Daily kit.
J'ai fait la carte lignée rouge avec du carton aquarelle, de l'aquarelle et un pinceau. J'aime beaucoup l'effet imparfait. Le 4 chez nous c'était très créatif!! Alors j,ai décidé de mettre dans mon album une photo de quelques-uns des bracelets que les filles et moi avons fait. J'ai ajouté 2 petites étiquettes, un embellissement de chipboard et une petite étoile rouge.

Here, for a photo challenge I'm participating to in December (#defiphototchoubi on Instagram) I had made a picture of my table as I was doing my Christmas cards. For the date I added a gold foil circle and a number 4 in gold foil as well from Pretty Little Studio.
Puis voici une photo du dessus de ma table alors que j'étais en train de finir mes cartes. J'ai pris cett photo dans le cadre du défi photo de Tchoubi (#defiphototchoubi sur Instagram). Pour maruqer le jour, j'ai utilisé un cercle doré et un chiffre 4 en or de Pretty Little Studio.

Day 5/Jour 5

On day 5 we went to see the lights in Charlotte. And over there there was a living Christmas village. It was late at night so it was quite magical…although it was late at night and the girls were tired! ;)
Le 5 on est allé voir des lumières sur la piste de course à Charlotte. Là-bas il y avait un village de Noël vivant. C'était magique.

I decided to incorporate more photos of the animals than of the lights.
J'ai choisi plus de photos du village que des lumières.

This little stamp (Make some Magic) is from Ali Edwards and was also in the kit. I simply adore it!!
La petite étampe ici c,est Ali Edwards et je l'adore!!!

Right in the middle of the spread, I added a 5x7 page protector from Becky Higgins. Bigger pictures are awesome to make a good statement. Here I feel like with only one photo, we have a good idea of what we saw over there. No need to put the picture of every single light sculpture we saw.
J'ai ajouté une pochette 5x7 de Becky Higgins pour pouvoir ajouter un agrandissement. 

I decorated the photo simply with a number and a circle tag.
J'ai décoré très simplement.

On the other side I cut out a piece of paper from the kit to fit in the pocket and I embellished it with only one big die cut (Pretty Little Studio!) and I added some gold ink drops.
De l'autre coté de la page, un papier à motifs, un die cut de père-Noël et des gouttes d'encre dorée.

Here's Arielle on her camel. This is a iPhone photo and the quality is not great, but I rather have a good memory recorded with a poor photo than having no memories recorded.
Arielle sur son chameau. La qualité de cette photo prise avec mon iphone n'est pas super mais ce n'est pas grave. J'aime mieux une photo moins bonne et un souvenir qu'une superbe photo sans souvenir. :)

Here I've cut the star in half so that the bottom would show under this long banner.

Ici j'ai coupé l'étoile en deux.

Day 6/Jour 6

On day 6 we did many things: we did our Christmas tree, we went to see Santa at night in our club house and we went to see an impressive house!
Le 6 on a fait plein de choses: pere-noel, sapin de Noël et encore une fois on est allé voir des lumières.

This is a card I made with a simple brush and black ink. I added a wood veneer from Cosmo Cricket and a puffy heart.
J'ai fait cette carte avec de l'encre noire et un pinceau. La petite enveloppe est de Cosmo Cricket.

When I have many stories on one day, I try to make a nice ending and a new beginning by starting the second story on the other side of the page.
Quand j'ai beaucoup d'histoires en une seule journée, j'essaie de ne mettre qu'une histoire par page.

Here's the house with all it's lights and on the right side we have the decorating of the tree. The order of the events doesn't really fit, but I'm fine with that.
Ici vous pouvez voir la maison du quartier qui est toute illuminée (pas la mienne) ainsi que notre beau sapin en train de se faire décorer.

This little piece is an embossed stamp from the December Daily kit.

Ca ici c'est une étampe d'ail Edward que j'ai embossée en doré.
