Citrus Twist Kits | Project Life 2016

Hey everyone!

Welcome to my Project Life 2016! :) I know I showed you a couple other pages already but this is my official first couple page spread. You can quickly access all my Project Life 2016 posts by clicking on the PL 2016 Label on the left hand side of my blog.

So I've been asked how I would do categorize my pages this year. Meaning, will I go back to a weekly approach or will I stick to a monthly approach. My answer: I'm not going back to weekly, that's for sure. I like to be free to add as many pictures as I want, where I want them to be ad not feel a pressure that I "have" to fill some pockets just for the sake of it. So my approach is probably monthly, but really I just add my stories as I feel it. It's as easy as that.

This page here, for example, covers one day. :D The first of January. The left page is about the beginning of the year. And the right page is about us playing in the snow and hot it made me happy to spend quality time with my kids. Now, I feel that I have to say that last year, doing PL this way, I used 2 albums. And the previous years, doing the weekly approach, I also used 2 albums.

For this spread, I used my Citrus Twist Kits Project Life kit.

I even used some of the packaging. I really like how the kit always come super pretty in a beautiful bag with a small label on it. I cut out a 4x6 piece out of it, making sure that the label would be in the middle. To make it sturdier I backed it with a 4x6 cardstock and ran it through my sewing machine.  I then stitched the rubber word "happy" on top. It didn't go exactly as planned because the rubber wasn't gliding under the little foot of my machine but I decided to keep it this way anyway. I added a couple of red/pink sequins.

Here you can see that I also used one of the brown paper bag in which some embellishments came. :) That color and texture makes me happy so why not use it?! On the blue card, I added the numbers that i cut out in a patterned paper.

I love this little happy card with the word "begin". I added a little puffy star and stamped "let the year" with my CTK stamp.

A way to write journaling on a picture is to write on small strips of paper. here I also cut out one strip (the black one) from the printable that comes with the kit. I stitched it down and simply glued the other strips.

I've written my word of the year with my Tomboy brush pen and cut around with small scissors. I stitched in place.

On this page I didn't add many details. I liked the white of the snow.

A couple of puffy stickers.

Some embroidery. I made my holes with a pointy and sharp tool and I stitched through the holes. Long, but easy.

And a blank card is perfect for journaling. A little bit of stitching and calligraphy to add a little bit to the card.

That's it for today. :)
Take care,

Marie-Pierre

Hip Kit Club | Addition to my Project Life album

Hey everyone!
Salut tout le monde!!

A new page format just found its place in my 2016 Project Life album: the 8x8. Ok, I also have the 6x6, as you saw here. But the 8x8 will give my favorite pictures and stories a special place.

I love the Project Life album format. In fact, I was just looking at older PL albums with my daughters who wanted to see themselves when we arrived in the USA 5 years ago and it was simply MAGICAL to see us in different life situations, not just at Christmas on on vacation. So yes, I love the format but I thought as i was looking at my album that it was pretty tough to navigate since no particular story was standing out. Everything in the album had the same weight. It was kind of boring to look at. That's when the thought came up: if I just added another page protector with a different photo size, it could help that photo to stand out.

So here's my page. :) The story is that my daughter LOVES my parents cats. It's really a big deal every time we visit them. And it's also a big deal when we leave them.

I hand wrote this quote from Winnie the Pooh I believe (I saw it on Instagram so I'm not really sure) with my brush pen on a cute tag.

And I added small embellishments here and there.

I really love the dimension of curled paper.

A little bit of journaling and some drops of Shimmers.

And some gold accents from Heidi Swapp.
Et quelques accents métalliques de Heidi Swapp.

If you like the elements that I used, they are all part of the GORGEOUS (!!) Hip Kit Club January Kits. You can check them out right here.

Talk to you real soon!
À bientôt!!!

Pretty Little Studio | December Daily

Hi everyone!
Salut tout le monde!
I'm here today to show you one more page of my December Daily album. I haven't made much progress since I'm back from Canada but one page at the time is my moto. :)

Here it is, using mostly Pretty Little Studio products for this one:
Voici donc ma page:

I love love love Pretty Little Studio's large acetate numbers. (BY THE WAY, I just realized that there's 10% off your entire order until January 31st with the coupon code newyear!!) There are various colors in the pack and I mostly will create according to the color of the number of that day. Today I got lucky because pink is one of my favorite color since I have girls at home. :)

Ali Edwards' red stars and Pretty Little Studio's Home Sweet Home die cut were perfect to add to the pale pink a little bit of oomph.

I also LOVE Merry and Bright's flairs. Simple, elegant and colorful. I like to use them as is without adding anything else to them.

The best thing about the acetate is that you can work one day on two sides of the page. You flip over and you still have your accurate date. I used the large shipping tag for my journaling and added some baker's twine. I have to remember to order more of that baker's twine color for next year's December Daily. :)

On that last photo I used Citrus Twist Kits Wood veneer words and a Ali Edwards chipboard star. I started with the Jolly fun and the eat, drink, be merry and added the start and then I realized that it could look pretty much like a Christmas tree so I found that small Noel in my wood veneer pack and used it as the tree trunk. That's the magic of having a lot of stuff to work with. :)

Going to continue working on my December Daily album today. What about you? Are you all done with your Christmas projects?

Have a wonderful day!
Je vous souhaite une super belle journée!!

Free Download | Calendar 2016

Hi everyone!
Salut tout le monde!

Yesterday as I was working on the beginning of my 2016 Project Life album, I figured that I needed to make another calendar. Last year I really appreciated the little boxes to write details and have a good monthly overview since I'm now working on a weekly basis anymore.
Ca me donnait une vue d'ensemble.

This year I decided to go just a little big bigger and I made a 6x6 calendar that I will add at the beginning of each month in an extra page protector. Here's how it looks like.

Simple embellishment is all it takes. :) I could also add color in the boxes.
If you would like to add the Calendar to your PL album or to any other project, you can get on the Citrus Twist Kits Facebook Fan page.

On the other side of the calendar, I made a small page. I really loved working with this size!!

I printed a photo in 6x6 and added only a little bit of embellishments.

I wish you a nice end of the day. :)

Hip Kit Club | Project Life 2015

Hi everyone!
Today I'm sharing a spread I made about our trip to Sanibel Island in November 2015. I made it with Hip Kit Club December 2015 Kits.
I really like my new approach to Project Life which is not weekly but story by story, regardless of the length of the story.

Left page:

And some close up shots:

I love these little dash to catch the attention of the viewer.

I like lots of space on a photo to add a big word.
And stitching is always one my favorite!! Remember that you can stitch through everything (almost - don,t try metal!!). Seriously I stitch through wood veneers and the thickest chipboard. It's really a great way to add that WOW factor!

White drops of ink. I haven't found a white ink that makes cute drops I like. If you know of one, let me know in the comments... Maybe it's just my technique that is bad, I don,t know. I really love the look of white  on dark patterned papers.

As I already mentioned often, striped patterned papers are great for journaling. Here's another good example of that. I cut out a sheet of 6x6 into a 3x4 card. it gave me one 4x6 and 2 3x4 cards. Awesome stuff!! :)

Silver is coming along gold these days and I love it. Lots of people think that gold and silver don't go together but they really do. They are 2 neutrals.

Here a really thick cluster of wood veneer and flair. Not sure I'm a big fan of that in my PL album. I'm afraid it will distort my photos laying on top of that with time... :( I love the stitching on the card under the photo though. :) That little flair is really rally cute!

Right page:

Ombre patterned paper cut into a 4x6 card. I really love the look of that!

These little golden hearts on the side were cut in 2. Here is one half on them.

And here's the other half. It's different. It's kind of cute ;)

Lovely card, exclusivity of Hip Kit Club! And a little wooden frame to bring together all the other wooden pieces I used on this spread.

One Little Word 2016 | Responsable

Hi everyone!
Happy New Year!
Salut tout le monde!!
Bonne Année!

I hope you had a great holiday and that you are easily getting back into your daily, "normal" life. :)
We had a great time in Canada. We could enjoy snow and mild temperatures (who would have thought this could happen in Canada?!), family time and because of a mechanical problem on the aircraft I was supposed to take and of an overload of travelers, I could enjoy 4 more days in Canada than what was planned. Hubby had to celebrate New Year's eve alone, but on the other hand, I could be home for the first time in something like 15 years! That's priceless!! So anyway, I'm back in North Carolina now and trying to get the scrapbooking wheels rolling again. :)

Here's a page I made about my Little Word of the year 2016: Responsible.

I have been inspired by the January 2016 Challenge from Lime Citron. I thought the sketch was really fun to adapt to a 8.5x11 format (the size of my One Little Word album) and the color combo was really speaking to me. I couldn't resist stitching with some silver thread and adding silver and great stars.

Look at this giant acetate "bokeh" star.
For the blue watercolor look behind my picture I used my tomboy brush pens. I mixed some blue and some green and used lots of water to make it translucent.
The word "responsable" was hand written with another brush pen and cut out with scissors. I adhered it with foam adhesive. You can see the stitching here that goes incircles under my picture.
And over my journaling, which is totally fine since we still can easily read. :)

I typed my journaling with my typewriter. Love the effect!! My journaling is defining my word and going a little more in the details of what I'd like to see change in 2016. It's almost like a statement of everything I am responsible of: my daughters, the time I go to bed, where I put my time, my health, my happiness, my softness, my positiveness, etc. :)

On the corner of my photo I added a tiny wooden clothespin on which I glued a tiny red bird from the Merry and Bright Collection from Pretty Little Studio.

Here I used a small deer die cut and a cute snowman flair also from Pretty Little Studio.
I adhered some silver, white and grey stars here and there.

And I finished by sprinkling teal sequins + 2 red sequins to guide the eye through the page (visual triangle with the red bird) and to break the very soft look of the page.

I also would love to add my page to the Anything Goes January Clique Kits challenge!! :)

Did you choose a Word for tis year? If so, you can write it in the comment section. :) I find that ready each others words is very inspiring.

Thanks for looking!!
Merci d'être passé par ici!!
