Happy Birthday Arielle!

ATTENTION!! BEAUCOUP DE PHOTOS!!!

Hi every one!
As promised, I'm here to show you some pictures of Arielle's birthday party that we had this weekend. We had guests (yay!), sun (yay!!), fun, cake, my parents.....and a happy little girl. What could we ask for more??! ALERT! LOTS OF PHOTOS!!!

Papa a gonflé quelques ballons.

Dad blew some balloons. After checking out our options, we ended up buying a kit containing an helium thank and 50 balloons. At that point I said goodbye to my colour scheme plan which could have been turquoise, pink and yellow. lol Maybe I'll be able to do it another time.

The balloons couldn't stay in place: Arielle was moving them around saying:"It's MY birthday, I decide!!" I've managed to find my smile back just in time for the pictures! ;)

Un bisou à la caméra.
A kiss to the camera.

Une grande fille de 4 ans! "Maman, quand je vais avoir 5 ans là, ...."A cet âge là, on est jamais assez vieux!
A big 4 year old girl! "Mom, when I'll be 5, can I....." She's already thinking a year ahead.

Avec sa couronne qu'elle voulait tant!
With the crown she wanted so badly.

She was looking forward to eat it! Since breakfast she was asking if she could have some.

Les enfants admirent le gâteau. :)

Une des profs d'Arielle, Mrs. Heath. On l'aime beaucoup.
One of Arielle's teacher: Mrs. Heath. We love her very much!

The gifts unwrapping session was a bit too long. Oups! Oh well, we'll know for next time.

Le gâteau. :) Oui oui, c'est bien moi qui l'ai fait!! =)
The cake that I made myself (yes!!) for Arielle. :)

I went to bed at 4 for this cake and I thought so many times that it was the last cake I'd ever make!! But when I saw her smile, well, I thought I'd at least make ONE last one....for Maya in July. ;)

On souffle les bougies. :)

Et ils dégustent. Ben oui, ils, moi j'en ai pas mangé. :)
And they eat it. Yes, they. I didn't even have one bite!! :)

Arielle liked her balloons very much!

This is right before the party. We had to blow 50 balloons, and make 50 knots, and attach 50 cords!! Thank to grand-pa for his help.

The after party on our patio. Notice the homemade margarita?! :D

And here's the cake "making of" if you're interested.

OK, so I started with the cake baking and the icing.
And I attempted to do some little towers that finally hadn't had place to fit on the cake which is fortunate because I frankly don't think they would have made it till the next day.

Ensuite j'ai coloré le fondant. 2 paquets!! En rose à la demande d'Arielle. Vous voyez ici mes bras de P90X. ;)
After that I coloured the fondant, 2 packs, all pink to Arielle's wish. You can see my new P90X arms here. ;) Just joking!!

And as you can notice up here, before colouring all of the fondant in pink I made a little green portion to cover up the baseboard.

MERCI GEN! T'ES LA MEILLEURE!!!!
Once the fondant was all rolled out (that's not an easy task), I covered all the cake tiers without any folds (it was the first time I achieved that!!). And once all the tiers were covered, Patrick went to bed and I was left alone, alone with my head and my thoughts...and standing in front of this giant pink cake that was looking more like a bad barbapapa than like a castle, I had to call my friend Geneviève to the rescue!!!! She was already in bed (hey, it was midnight!) but she got up, gave me tips and tricks and ideas and she stayed up with me on Skype until 2 in the morning!! I was dreaming of finding ONE good friend. Well, don't look further, I found her! The best I could wish for. THANKS GEN!!!! Love you!!!

Ok so with the help of Gen, I decided what I'd do with my towers (went in the trash!) and I decided to go with the white plastic towers, door and windows that were in the castle kit Gen landed me. I cut out some borders with my fondant punch (awesome thing! I had the impression I was scrapbooking!), made some bricks and put up the door and some little windows. At 2:00, Gen went to bed and I continued the decoration of the not-yet-castle cake by myself: flowers and vines.

À bientôt!!! :)

Ok so here you got it and I'm off to bed: my new goal is to go to bed before midnight so it's almost a success for tonight. :)
Talk to you soon!

Aw, happy birthday to your sweet Arielle! I can't believe she's already four. It seems like I've been following your blog for a few years already! That cake is AMAZING!!!

Thanks for stopping by to say hi, Marie-Pierre. I need your email. ;) The dogs are a digital stamp so they are easy to flip on the computer. For clear stamps, I use the Babe Block or Dude Block from Paper Smooches. You have to use a very juicy ink pad and then do it really fast. Once in a while, you have to use a black pen (Copic or other) to trace the areas that aren't as dark as the original, if you are also using the original on the same project. I find that the more detail a stamp has, the easier it is to reverse stamp. I hope that helps! ♥
