Hybrid Scrapbooking - Project Life

Salut tout le monde!

Oh how I am happy when I can create. It doesn't happen very often these days and I miss it so much!
As I told you yesterday, I bought myself a kit of cards by One Little Bird (Peppermint Granberg). It was hard to choose because they are all so beautiful! So I went with logic: I wanted to scrapbook our Valentine's Day next so I bought the "love" kit. I absolutely loved the card with the big LOVE on it!! And I saw many ways of using the other cards too. I used also a couple of elements coming from the kit  I bought yesterday for my scrapbook page. These little word labels are so versatile and precious! So here's how my pages turned out!
Mon dieu que je suis heureuse quand je peux créer. Même si c'est tard dans la nuit! :) On prend le temps qu'on peut, n'est-ce pas? Alors, comme je vous ai dit ça hier, je suis allée magasiner un kit digital de "project Life" par One Little Bird (Peppermint Granberg). Ça a été pas mal dure de choisir car ils sont tous beaux!! Mais j'ai finalement décidé d'y aller avec logique: je voulais documenter ma journée de St-Valentin alors j'y suis allée avec le kit "love". J'adore la carte avec le gros LOVE. Et les autres cartes du kit sont tellement versatiles. Pour ces pages de mon album, j'ai aussi utilisé quelques éléments provenant d'autres kits. Je vous le dirai à mesure… Voici donc ma double-page. 

This is the left page. Remember, I don't go by time anymore in my Project Life album. I prefer to focus on stories, and this would be our Valentine's Day. You can read about my new philosophy for 2015 here.
Voici la page de gauche. Souvenez-vous, je ne fais plus mon PL en fonction du temps cette année, mais bien en fonction des histoires. C'est pour ça qu'il n'y a pas de carte de date et que une seule journée prend 2 pages pleines! Pour lire sur ma façon de faire cette année, c'est ici.

One thing I would like to point out, because lots of people ask me how I do to match my colors, is that I DON'T match the colors that much. Some people have very clean and simple Project Life album. it's all beautiful with lots of white and pastel, and I love the look, but for me, I prefer to use my pictures as they are and as they represent my life (with lots of odd colors sometimes) and I try to balance it with the cards I choose. For example here I used lots of white cards and I have one photo that is pretty white too, I chose other cards that are fairly pale and one that is navy blue, but that one I covered with a photo and a frame. I added a orange label in the picture with a orange hue (the giraffe) and I added lots of watercolor pink that ties in with the pink journaling card (the koala). The green behind the koala ties in with the blues and greens in the wrapping paper in the photo top right and also with the little bit of green in the giraffe photo. In all, I try to have 3 of everything and to place them in a way that would guide the eye through the page once the eye grab one spot of that color.
Une chose que j,aimerais souligner, parce que plusieurs me demande comment je fais pour "matcher" les couleurs dans mon album, c'est que je ne "matche" pas les couleurs justement! Par contre je m'assure qu'il y aie une balance, c'est vrai. Par exemple, ici, j,ai plusieurs photos assez foncé. J'ai donc pris beaucoup de cartes blanches et j,ai aussi intégré une carte bleu marin très foncé mais elle est recouverte presqu'entièrement par une photo et un petit cadre blanc. Aussi, quand je place mes photos, je m'arrange pour qu'il y ai 3 fois la même couleur et je les place de façon à avoir un triangle visuel. Ici vous pouvez regarder le vert. C,est subtil. Il y en a dans ma photo de koala, puis dans le papier d'emballage et dans la photo de la girafe en bas a gauche. Vous voyez comme l'oeil fait un triangle en passant de un à l'autre? Le rose aussi, est dispersé en triangle: LOVE, j'adore et la carte koala. L'accent de rose foncé/rouge forme un diagonale d'en bas à gauche avec le manteau de ma fille, le coeur rouge sur la carte j'adore, le ballon, le manteau de ma fille à nouveau et le petit point rouge sur le banc de ma fille dans la photo en haut à droite. Ce sont de petits détails qui rassemblent les cartes et qui créent un équilibre.

I printed most of my cards on watercolor paper because I new I wanted to color the LOVE and I also wanted the texture of all the cards to me the same. For the Love, I used coral ink (I checked which ink I had that was the closest to the pink card) and a water brush. I started with a new load of ink at every beginning of a letter to get this ombre effect.
J'ai imprimé toutes mes cartes sur du papier aquarelle parce que je voulais une unité de texture et de couleur (le papier aquarelle est un peu plus jaune que le carton blanc ordinaire). Je savais aussi que je voulais peindre le LOVE. J'ai utilisé de l'encre corail (J'ai pris l'encre que j'avais qui était le plus proche du rose de la carte rose (sous le koala) et un pinceau. J'ai pris de l'encre avec mon pinceau à chaque fois que je commençais une lettre et j'ajoutais de l'eau en m,n allant vers la droite pour créer un dégradé.

On top of my picture on the right, I printed (again on watercolor paper) a label that was in that kit. The Beautiful was perfect to color in. It was already bleu but it was so pale that it was no problem to go over it with ink. I could have played with it on photoshop and remove the blue before printing but I hadn't think about it before printing. Stitching is ALWAYS a good way to add texture, and sweetness and little details that make a big difference! Again, it's all a question of balance so remember that if you stitch one thing, you will want to stitch some other things.
Sur ma photo à droite, j'ai imprimé une petite étiquette et j'ai colorié le mot "beautiful" de la même couleur. Le mot était bleu pâle alors ce n'était pas un problème de peindre par dessus, mais j,aurais aussi pu facilement enlever la couleur complètement avec photoshop avant de l,imprimer si j,y avais pensé plus tôt. J'ai ensuite cousu avec du fil blanc. La couture est probablement mon arme secrète la plus utilisée. Un peu de couture fait tout une différence! 

This card was in a kit that I already had. The color is kraft. It didn't go had in hand with the kit I bought, but the kraft is enough of a neutral to go with everything. And the prompt on it was just perfect for my documenting!! Don't be afraid to use things that don't match. The most important thing is to document the story!
J'ai trouvé cette carte dans un kit que j'avais déjà. La couleur de la carte est kraft tirant un peu sur le rose. J'ai pensé que le kraft n'allait pas nécessairement avec les reste de mes cartes mais au fond, c'est une couleur neutre alors elle se fond bien. Les mots sur la carte étaient juste parfait. je ne pouvais pas ne pas l'utiliser! Et l'important, c'est pas que tout matche, c'est que l'histoire soit documentée!

These two little cards are just adorable!!! On the left I used a frame from this kit. It think it adds so much to the photo! And the "this makes me smile" is from this kit. It might feel like i have so many kits but the truth is there are so many elements in one kit that with only 4 different kits we can make SO MANY things!!! Here again, stitching was key to add this little something to the very simple koala card.
Ces deux petites cartes sont super adorables!!! À gauche, j'ai utilisé un cadre de ce kit. Je trouve que ça ajoute beaucoup à ma photo. Le "makes me smile" provient de ce kit. J'ai peut-être l'air d'avoir utilisé tellement de kits différents, mais j'en ai quoi, 4? Les kits sont tellements remplis de choses que les possibilités sont infinies!! Surtout qu'on peut changer la couleur et la grandeur de chaque élément! Bon et sur cette petite carte de droite, encore une fois, juste un peu de couture et c'est tout. Simple simple. :)

Here I added a tiny word label and also a printed washi tape at the bottom of the j'adore card. I watercolor the middle of the circle with the same ink I used for the LOVE on the opening card. Careful when you watercolor on a card you printed at home, the ink is bleeding. Here I was just careful and didn't touch the lines (Actually, I did touch, but with a tissue paper I could clean it out) :)
Ici j'ai ajouté simplement une petite étiquette et un coeur en bois. Et sur la carte j'adore, du "washi tape" en bas et de l'aquarelle dans le cercle. Si jamais vous faites de l'aquarelle sur une carte que vous avez utilisé à la maison, faites attention de ne pas toucher à la ligne noire car l'encre va couler. Moi j'y suis allée doucement et parfois j'ai accroché l'encre noire. Je l'ai simplement épongé avec un essuie-tout. 

Sometime, all you need to journal is a small label. I took this label from one of the kit I own and I recolored it to match the coral pink from the koala-card. Also, sometimes you don't have enough 4x6 pictures or cards. Well, two 3x4 cards next to another in the pocket will do the trick. Sometimes I adhere them together with washi tape on the back to make sure they stay in place. Look at this cute card with the fill in the blank!!
Parfois tout ce dont on a besoin pour écrire c'est une petite étiquette. J'ai trouvé cette étiquette dans un des kits et je l'ai recoloré de la couleur de la carte rose (koala). Aussi quand vous n'avez pas assez de photos 4x6 ou de cartes 4x6, vous pouvez simplement prendre 2 photos/cartes 3x4. Ca fait la job. :)

Ok, this is the second page. I thought that the yellow stripes were perfect for our Valentine's Day spent at the zoo! It's not too obvious (like, not a tiger or giraffe pattern) and it's just enough to tie in the colors of my pictures and the patterns of the animals. Plus, the stripes are PERFECT to write!!
Ok, voici la page de droite. Je trouvais que la carte jaune allait super bien avec mes photos d'animaux, sans être "trop". En plus, les lignes larges sont parfaites pour écrire le texte. 

So here I sort of divided my page into two moments of the day. The left is the afternoon at the zoo, while the right side focus more on our evening and on things more "valentine-y. :)
J'ai divisé cette page en 2 parties: la visite au zoo, à gauche, et les photos plus St-Valentin, à droite.

On that striped card I added a label with some stitching. I absolutely love the black paired with he yellow/orange and white! I added a cute speech bubble (it's an element from the kit!) saying "hello". I think it's just the perfect touch for this funny picture! :)
Sur cette carte rayée, j'ai ajouté une petite étiquette noire avec de la couture. J'adore le combo jaune/orange, noir et blanc. J'ai aussi ajouté une petite bulle disant "hello" à ma photo de girafe. je trouvais que ça faisait un peu humoristique et que ça allait super bien avec la photo drôle.

I added a Love you flair to that picture because it really is the picture I love most from our trip.
Ici j'ai "osé" ajouter un badge "Love you" parce que c'est définitivement ma photo préférée que j'ai ramenée de notre visite au zoo. 

And this is our Valentine desert. :) Again, a word label, a chipboard heart and some stitching is all it needed. The colors of the picture are not great, but the memory is way more important than that!! In 5 years from now I'll be so happy to have included this not so perfect picture to my album.
Et voici notre dessert de St-Valentin. :) Encore une fois, une petite étiquette, un petit coeur en chipboard et de la couture suffisent amplement pour habiller cette photo qui est loin d'être parfaite! Mais vous savez, la documentation est bien plus importante que les couleurs très moyennes de la photo. Dans 5 ans, je vais être vraiment contente savoir ajouté cette photo à mon album. 

This card is one of my favorite of all time!!! Look at the hand drawn lines and the cute little red hearts!!! Oh my gosh! It's perfect for bullet journaling. Simple, fast and easy. And on this picture I used the "j'adore" from the card on the left page. With photoshop I just cut it out and added it to this picture before printing it. I love that the black ties in with the little card on it's left, the heart chipboard on the picture right over it and the contour of the heart on the picture under it. Just small details that bing together photos with lots of different colors. Think balance.
Cette carte est une de mes préférées à vie!! Les lignes faites à la main, les petits coeurs rouges!!! J'adore!!! Et c'est parfait pour ajouter un petit texte simple, facile et efficace. Le "j'adore" sur la photo, je l'ai pris de la carte sur ma page précédente. Avec photoshop j'ai sélectionné le noir et je l,ai glissé sur ma photo. Facile comme tout! Puis le noir ma chercher le noir de la carte d'à côté, le noir du petit chipboard de la photo du dessus et le noir du coeur de la photo du dessous. Pensez répétition.

This little heart was in this kit. I just extracted it with photoshop and printed it, again, on watercolor paper. I stitched it in place, right in the middle of the picture.
Ce petit coeur était dans ce kit. Je l,ai juste pris, comme le j'adore de la photo précédente et je l'ai imprimé sur du papier aquarelle. Je l'ai cousu en plein milieu de la photo.

And voilà! The only thing missing? THE DATE!! I just realized that this morning. I'll add it later on. :)
Et voilà! La seule chose qui manque?? LA DATE! J'y ai pensé ce matin seulement. Mes photos étaient déjà toutes prises. Je vais l'ajouter quelque part, ne vous en faites pas. ;)

Hybrid Scrapbooking - One little bird

Salut tout le monde!

Recently I was listening to Peppermint Granberg on the Paperclipping Roundtable and that reminded me of a page I made for Get it Scrapped with her products a while ago. I loved the process of working with a digital kit and I especially loved her products so much (you have to go check it out if you don't know her already!!!) that I decided to buy another kit and to do it again!! It's called hybrid scrapbooking: the process of using digital elements on a paper page by stamping with them, by die cutting them or by simply printing them. I bought this kit. I LOVED the happy colors and the clean look, the cork smily, and the elegant patterned papers. And here's the page I made with it:
Il n'y a pas longtemps, j'écoutais Pepperming Grandberg sur le Paperclipping Roundtable et ça m'a rappelé une page que j'ai faite l'année passée pour Get it Scrapped en utilisant ses produits. J'avais adoré  travailler avec un kit digital surtout parce qu'elle fait des produits formidables!! (Si vous ne la connaissez pas encore, je vous encourage à aller voir ce qu'elle fait.) Puis, en me rappelant cette page, je me suis dit que j'aimerais bien retenter l'expérience. Ça s'appelle du scrapbooking hybride: le fait de travailler avec un kit digital, d'étamper en digital, d'imprimer pour travailler ensuite avec les papiers et embellissements et d'ajouter sur sa page des produits de scrap comme des brade, des flairs, du fil, etc… Cette fois-ci j'ai acheté ce kit. Je l'aime à cause de ses couleurs vives et joyeuses et à cause de son look très simple et "clean". J'aime aussi le sourire en liège et les papiers à motifs super élégants. Voici la page que j'ai faite:

For the background I used a patterned paper I LOVE!! I printed it with my wide printer (PIXMA PRO-100 from Canon). It's a very subtle print on a cream paper and some of the lines are orange. I used a orange cardstock as the base to make these orange accents pop. I stitched all around the page with a white thread.
Pour le fond, j'ai utilisé un papier à motifs que j'ai imprimé avec mon imprimante qui imprime sur du  papier 13 pouces (PIXMA PRO-100 de Canon). Le motif est un texte très subtil et quelques phrases sont en orange. J'ai décidé de monter ma page sur un carton orange pour faire ressortir ces phrases orange. J'ai cousu tout autour du papier avec du fil blanc pour donner de la texture. 

To make a base behind my photo, I printed these orange stripes on vellum and I adhered it over a very soft blue patterned paper. From there I could build up with golden cardstock (I had that piece die cut from a previous project) and more elements that i had printed from the kit on white cardstock: labels, round elements, short strips with happy sentiments, cork smily faces that I mounted on actual cork.
Ensuite, pour créer la base derrière ma photo, j'ai imprimé un autre motif mais cette fois sur du vélin. Je l'ai mis par dessus un autre papier à motifs bleu très pâle. À partir de là j'ai continué à ajouter des couches: ma photo et un restant de die cut doré qui me restait d'un autre projet. j'ai aussi ajouté des éléments du kit que j'avais simplement imprimé sur du carton blanc et découpé: des étiquettes, des éléments ronds, des petites bandes de papier avec des mots positifs et joyeux, les petits visages en liège que j,ai monté sur du vrai liège.

I cut a 3x4 card out of the orange striped patterned paper and used it for my journaling. I stitched the top together with a small label. I also added a label under my photo to have a house for my title which I wrote with golden thickers.
J'ai découpé une carte 3x4 dans un papier à motifs orange. Les bandes me permettent bien d'écrire mon texte. J'ai cousu le le haut avec du fil noir et j'ai ajouté une petite tiqueté et une étoile dorée. J'ai ajouté une plus grande étiquette sous ma photo pour créer une place pour mettre mon titre que j'ai écrit avec des Thickers doré.

I loved gathering lots of round elements together!! And stamping (good day, sunshine) on white cardstock to make a custom patterned paper to add to the layering. I used a couple of black elements to add some punch to my very soft page and I also added some golden star stickers to help the eye move around the page. :)
J'adore rassembler des éléments qui ont la même forme, ici, les ronds. J'aime aussi étamper sur du carton blanc pour créer mon propre papier à motifs.  et pour ajouter des couches. J'ai utilisé quelques éléments noirs pour donner du punch à ma page très pâle. J'ai ajouté des étoiles dorées pour aider à guider l'oeil sur la page. 

I love that the words on the embellishments help the light in my photo stand out and shine.
'adore que les mots sur les embellissements sont tous positifs et joyeux et j,aime qu'ils aident la lumière dans ma photo à briller encore plus!

Project Life 2015

Salut tout le monde!

Finally, I'm here today to talk to you about my Project Life album.
For me, Project Life is taking a different direction this year.
Instead of focussing on the "time", on the weeks or on when this and this event happened, I will be focussing on the STORIES themselves.
Me voilà enfin avec mon album Project Life! 
Mon album prendra une nouvelle direction cette année. 
Au lieu de focusser sur le "temps", à savoir dans quelle semaine ceci et cela s'est passé, remplir mes semaines même s'il ne s'est pas passé grand chose, je vais plutôt me concentrer sur les HISTOIRES que je veux raconter. 

How I do it: when a story pops in my head, I grab a card (3x4 or 4x6 depending on the words I want to write down) and I write it down and slip it in a pocket. When I pint the pictures, later on, I can always rearrange the cards and even change the card and rewrite the story if needed. It's not like I'll be short of a card, I have so many!! As for the printing of the photos, I'll go as I have time, little by little. After all, I don't have to wait for the end of the week anymore as my album will be constantly growing. (Printing the pictures is what I like the least about the process. My hope is that this way I'll have more freedom and that the process will be more enjoyable.)
Ma façon de faire: quand une histoire va arriver, je vais tout de suite prendre une carte (3x4 ou 4x6 dépendaient de la longueur de l'histoire) et je vais la noter et l'insérer dans mon album. Je vais me soucier de son emplacement seulement quand j'aurai imprimé mes photos. Et si au pire la carte que j'avais choisie n fonctionne vraiment pas, je réécrirai l'histoire sur une autre carte. C,est pas comme si j'allais être à court de cartes bientôt de toutes façons. hé hé! Pour ce qui est des photos, je vais les imprimer au fur et à mesure, quand j'ai du temps. Pas besoin d'attendre la fin de la semaine puisque l'album va simplement être en constante évolution. Imprimer mes photos est la partie du processus que j'aime le moins. De cette façon j'espère ressentir moins le retard qu'on peut prendre quand on fait Project Life)

I use lots of cards from the Craft the Story kit from Ali Edwads this year. They are perfect to lead the way to stories.
J'utilise plusieurs cartes du kit Craft de Story de Ali Edwards. Je trouve que ses cartes sont vraiment un bon guide pour documenter les histoires.

The kit contains also lots of tiny elements that are perfect for the Project Life format
Le kit contient aussi beaucoup de tous petits éléments qui sont parfait pour le format Project Life.

I made myself 4x6 calendars with empty spaces to write the major events that happen during the month. This way I can order the moments in my head and use the rest of the pockets to focus on the stories that happen on a regular basis (like the morning story).
Je me suis fait des calendriers 4x6 avec des cases vides pour pouvoir noter les plus gros événements du mois. Comme ça je peux avoir une vue d'ensemble du mois même si les petites pochettes racontent des histoires qui reviennent sur une base régulière (comme l'histoire des lunchs et des matins).

Here again, cards on prompts from the Craft the Story kit. The theme that month was "firsts" and we had so many firsts with the beginning of the year, with my OLW (One Little Word), new resolutions, etc.
Ici encore, des cartes du kit Craft the Story. Le thème ce mois-là était: les premières fois and on a eu tellement de premières fois en janvier alors que je mettais en marche notre petit mot de l'année (One Little Word), mes nouvelles résolutions, etc.

I'm also mixing lots of different sizes of page protectors. I adapt them to fit my stories. Here, it's a line of e-mails that I sent to and received from my old dentist as we were looking for a new dentist here in NC.
Cette année je vais aussi mélanger beaucoup de formats de pages protectrices. Je vais les choisir en fonction de mes histoires. Ici je voulais préserver un échange de e-mails que j'ai vu avec notre ancien bureau de dentiste alors qu'on se cherchait un nouveau dentiste ici en Caroline du Nord.

And next to the -mail, the story of the search for the perfect dentist continues with words and photos.

In addition to my 4x6 calendar, I made some smaller calendars that I'll use randomly as I need them.

Get it Scrapped - Sprawl Composition

I have a page to show you today. I made it for Get it Scrapped.
I had to follow the "sprawl" approach. You can see all about this approach and many more design principles in Debbie's class "Scrapbook Coach". Debbie is an excellent teacher and if you are looking to learn about design, this would be a great start (and end!). She's that good!! :)

J'ai une page à vous montrer aujourd'hui. Je l'ai faite pour Get it Scrapped.
Il fallait suivre une des approches de composition appelées "sprawl" qu'elle couvre dans son cours "Scrapbook Coach". Si jamais vous voulez apprendre des techniques de design d'une façon claire et simple, Debbie est une excellente prof. Vous pouvez voir tous les cours offerts ici. 

Pour en revenir à la page, la technique "sprawl" veut qu'on couvre la page presqu'entièrement avec des photos. Voici ma page après avoir suivi ses conseils, étape par étape:

I used extra large photos for this page. Much larger than the ones I'm used to use on pages. It's great when you want the focus to be on the pictures.
J'ai utilisé des très grandes photos, plus grandes que ce que je suis habituée d'utiliser. C'est une bonne façon de diriger l'attention sur les photos, plutôt que sur les embellissements.

I used a journaling card and small labels for my journaling.
J'ai utilisé une carte de journaling et des petites étiquettes pour ajouter des détails.

Cute little details: flair and journaling card are from Pretty Little Studio.

The title and texte were drawn with a paintbrush and paint.
J'ai écrit le titre et le texte de la chanson avec de la peinture et un pinceau.

OWL 2015

I think it's time for me to talk to you about the concept of ONE LITTLE WORD.
It's a word you choose for yourself for the year that will act as a guide to help you focus on some aspect you would like to see change or you want to work one over the year. Kind of a New Year Resolution but instead of having a long list you quickly forget, you just have this one little word that help you remind your way… :)
Je pense qu'il serait grand temps que je vous parle de mon Mot Phare (One Little Word). C'est un concept mis sur pied par Ali Edwards. On choisi un mot qui nous servira de guide toute l'année. C'est un peu comme une résolution sauf qu'au lieu d'avoir une liste exhaustive de choses à changer, qu'on a d'ailleurs déjà oubliées en février, le mot phare est bien facile à retenir et il nous aide à nous rappeler nos intentions pour l'année. 

It's the 4th year I do this project.

2011 my word was CARE
2012 my word was ENERGY
2013 my word was LEARN

And this year I chose HARMONY.

And of course, as a memory keeper, so I document my process along the way. :)

I have one rather small album dedicated to this and I fill it with ideas, reminders, progress, beautiful things that will help me remind my word and my intention for the year.
Since this album is quite personal, I don't really want to detail everything here, but I'll show you the beginning…

C'est la 4e année que je fait ce projet.

En 2011 j'ai choisi Prendre Soin.
En 2012 j'ai choisi Énergie.
En 2013 j'ai choisi Apprendre.

Et cette année, j'ai choisi HARMONIE.

Bien sûr, en tant que scrapbookeuse, je vais aussi documenter mon processus. 

J'ai choisi un album assez petit pour documenter cette aventure et je vais le remplir d'idées, de choses à ne pas oublier, de belles choses qui me rappelleront mon mot et mon intention pour 2015.
Puisque cet album est ultra personnel, je ne vais probablement pas tout vous montrer ici, mais je peux tout de même vous montrer le début.

Voilà. For now it's a lovely project and my year started very well (better than the previous years). Now I hope I will be able to keep up with it the whole year.

Et voilà. Pour l'instant c'est un beau projet et mon année a très bien commencé (mieux que les années précédentes). J'espère juste pouvoir continuer jusqu'à la fin de l'année. 

Si vous avez aimé mon album, vous pouvez le faire vous aussi. Pas besoin de suivre le cours et pas besoin de commencer en janvier. Au fond, il n'est jamais trop tard pour vouloir s'améliorer.

Tchoubi - a small note pad

Salut tout le monde!

Today on Tchoubi's blog you can see my latest project: a small note pad I did for my daughter because, she never has enough note pads! :)
Aujourd'hui, sur le blog de Tchoubi, vous pouvez voir mon tout dernier projet, ce petit carnet de notes que j'ai fabriqué pour ma fille. Elle n'a jamais assez de carnets de note. :)

To make the "case" of the note pad, you just have to take a sheet of cardstock the length of the note pad and double the width of the note pad + the thickness of the note pad. Then you score the cardstock twice, right in the middle. This will become the spine. Glue de paper pad inside the cover and embellish the top of the case with patterned paper and embellish. :)
Pour faire la couverture du carnet de note, il suffit de prendre un carton de la hauteur du bloc note et du double de la largeur du bloc note + l'épaisseur du bloc note. Faites deux rainures en plein milieu du carnet sur le sens de la hauteur et voilà, la tranche est créée. Pliez le tout et collez les feuilles dans la couverture. 

I added a magnet to the closure. It makes for a fun little addition to the note pad. I bought the magnets at Staples in form of business card backings. They come in a box of 50 and have a sticky back. You just need to cut them to the size you need. The bigger the magnet, the bigger the attraction, of course.
J'ai ajouté une fermeture aimantée. Ca rend le petit carnet juste un peu plus le fun. J'ai acheté les aimants chez Bureau en Gros. Ca se vend sous forme de carte d'affaires en boite de 50. Les aimants sont pré-collés et il suffit de couper avec des ciseaux un petit bout de la grandeur désirée. Plus l'aimant est gros, plus l'attraction sera grande. 

Here you can see one magnet, under the ladybug. The other magnet is hidden under the flower. Although the magnets are separated by two sheets of paper, they still work fairly well.
Ici vous pouvez voir l'aimant sous la coccinelle. L'autre morceau est caché sous la fleur. Même si les aimants sont séparés par 2 feuille de papier/carton, l'attraction est quand même assez grande.

For the ladybug, I used a die cut that came in my paper kit and I added a badge for the back. Isn't the effect cool?!! :) And I added a small label and stamped my daughter's name on it.
Pour faire ma coccinelle, j'ai utilisé un die cut qui était dans mon kit de papier et je l'ai recouvert avec un badge de Tchoubi. C'est vraiment cool comme effet, hein? :) Puis j'ai ajouté une petite étiquette sur laquelle j'ai étampé le nom de ma fille.

I also added a small wooden square saying "little secrets", backed it with patterned paper and embellished it with a puffy heart sticker from Twine and Ink. :)
J'ai aussi ajouté un petit carré de bois que j'ai d'abord collé sur un carré de papier à motifs et que j,ai embelli avec un petit coeur auto collant.

December Daily - Day 30 & 31

Hi everyone!
Salut tout le monde!

There we are. At the end of this December Daily adventure! I think that I don't need to tell you again how much this project means to me. If you haven't done it this year, I encourage you to try it next year. And if you're afraid of not being consistent, well, skip a day. Who cares! What will be there will be there, right? :) Ok so here are the two last days and the end of my album.
Alors nous y voici, à la fin de cette belle aventure qu'est le December Daily! Je pense que je n'ai pas besoin de vous répéter encore une fois combien ce projet est important pour moi. Et si vous ne l'avez pas fait cette année, je vous encourage à le faire l'année prochaine. Et si vous avez peur de ne pas pouvoir tenir le coup et faire une page par jour, ben sautez-en une. On s'en fout! Ce qui est dans l'album est beaucoup plus important que ce qui n'est pas dans l'album, vous êtes d'accord? :) Alors voilà, la fin de mon album.

On the 30 and 31 we all had a cold so the month didn't end exactly as we would have liked. But we enjoyed family time at home, in peace and quiet, playing with our Christmas gifts. :)
Les 30 et 31 on a tous eu un beau gros rhume alors l'année (le mois, l'album) ne s'est pas terminé comme je l'aurais souhaité. Mais on a profité de moments tranquilles en famille pour jouer avec nos cadeaux de Noël.

 The lines here are made of gold ink.
Les lignes ici ont été dessinées au pinceau avec de l'encre dorée.

And this gold foil is from the Heidi Swapp's page protectors.
Et ce petit plastique avec de l'or est de Heidi Swapp.

 I used a small wood veneer from Tchoubi and a card from Heidi Swapp.
J'ai utilisé un petit wood veneer de Tchoubi et une carte de Heidi Swapp.

Gold is all over the place for this last day of the year! :) I love it!
Il y a du doré partout sur mes deux dernières pages!! J'adore!

And our last meal and toast deserved a whole page :)
Et notre dernier repas/toast mérite une belle page pleine! :)

The blue celebrate was in my december kit. I typed my journaling and printed it on vellum. I cut out stripes with my scissors. I didn't want it  to be too perfect. :) A gold star chipboard (Heidi Swapp) and a glittery gold mat. Swoon. :) That was it!
Le petit "celebrate" en plastique bleu provient de mon kit de Noël. I fait mon texte avec l'ordi et je l,ai imprimé sur du papier vélin. J'ai découpé des languettes avec mes ciseaux. Je ne voulais pas un look parfaitement droit. Une petite étoile en chipboard doré (Heidi Swapp) et un cadre en brillant doré. C'est tout ce que ça prenait!! :)

To close the album I used a really cool patterned paper from the kit and added a golden star right in the middle.
J'ai terminé l'album avec un papier à motif que je trouvais super beau et j'ai ajouté une étoile dorée au milieu.

Voilà! We are done! Phew! You know what, making the December Daily is really nothing compared to blogging about it! ;) So again, you might want to consider it next year. :) Ah and Ali's kit is always worth it. It's 99$ but, oh well, it's Ali's hand. It's quality, it's gorgeous! And when your album is done you still have plenty for cards and other Christmas related projects. Just saying.
Voilà, c'est terminé. WOW! Vous savez, faire le December Daily, c'est rien comparé à bloguer le December Daily. ;) Alors encore une fois, vous voulez peut-être essayer l'année prochaine. Ah et le kit de Ali en vaut toujours la peine. Moi je le mélange beaucoup avec d'autres produits de Noël, mais avec Ali on peut toujours s'attendre à quelque chose de classique, élégant et de qualité. Et quand l,album est complété, il vous restera certainement assez de matériel pour faire des cartes, des pages et d'autres projets de Noël. Juste pour dire. ;)

And that being said, I would love to tell you that there will be no more Christmas related pages on the blog until December but that would be lying because there's a beautiful page coming up very soon and it might involve Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer. Stay tuned. ;)
Et ceci dit, il me reste une page de Noël à vous montrer (vous verrez ça dans quelques jours) et ensuite c'est vrai, je serre tout ce qui est en rapport à Noël et je ressors ça en Novembre/décembre prochain. :)
