Entre Artistes | Scrapbooker of the year Part 3 of 4

Hi everyone!
This is the 3rd post of my reveal of my creations I submitted to the Entre Artistes contest. If you missed part one and two, you might consider catch up with that first. :)

The third assignment was to make a home decor piece that was creative.
I decided to make 2 silhouettes of my daughters and to mount them on a special background.
Here's the result:

One of the things I was doing before I started scrapbooking was called "Decoupage". It's french and it translates to "paper cuts". I learned the art in Switzerland. Here are some of my work of art on cards.

Anyway, to come back to these silhouettes, I started but working on the photos with Photoshop. I had to play with the contrast, and to cut out the silhouette of the girls. I then cut them out in a special black paper.

This is Arielle on her bike.

And this is some of the details of the background. It's a sheet of Dear Lizzy patterned paper with some stitching and some ink spraying from Heidi Swapp.

This is Maya on the carousel at Downtown Disney, Orlando.

And this is a detailed shot of the background. Again, Heidi Swapp's color magic spray in Cherry. On this one I stitched on the contour of the patterned paper.

I haven't hung them yet but I definitely will do so in my new house.

Arielle a 4 ans / Arielle turned 4

Salut tout le monde!

Hi everyone!

Samedi passé, ma grande a eu 4 ans. C'est fou tous les souvenirs et toutes les émotions qu'on traine avec nous autres et qui ressortent quand une certaine date arrive!

La veille de son anniversaire, Arielle n'arrivait pas à dormir (c'est rien de nouveau!) et elle ne voulait pas rester toute seule dans son lit (ça non plus c'est rien de nouveau). Vu que c'était sa fête le lendemain et que je filais nostalgique et amoureuse de ma petite fille qui grandit si vite, je lui ai proposé de lui raconter sa venue au monde pour l'aider à s'endormir. Elle a tout de suite accepté, évidemment! 

L'histoire commençait comme ceci: Ça fait 4 ans qu'on se connait. Arielle a tout de suite dit: 4 ans, c'est pas beaucoup hein? Et dans ma tête je me suis dit, non, c'est pas beaucoup. Ça fait drôle penser à ça, vous ne trouvez pas? Finalement Arielle ne s'est pas endormie à la fin de l'histoire. Quelle surprise! ;)

Last Saturday, my oldest turned 4! It's crazy how memories and emotions are attached to a date, and when this date comes around, the emotions start coming up. The evening before her birthday, Arielle couldn't sleep (that's nothing new) and she didn't want to be alone in her room (this is also nothing new). So because it was her birthday the next day and because I felt emotional, I told her I'd share the story of her birth with her to help her fall asleep. It started like so: We know each other since 4 years. Arielle said: that's not a long time. I thought your right! That's really not a long time. Isn't it funny to think of things like that?! :) Anyway, at the end of the story, Arielle hadn't fallen asleep. What a surprise!! ;)

Mais tout ça pour vous dire que le lendemain c'était sa fête et que même si on fête sa fête  avec des amis seulement samedi prochain, je voulais lui remettre une carte spéciale et j'ai eu la bonne idée d'utiliser la superbe estampe digitale créée par mon amie Catherine: lil' Cee Ballerina. L'autre bonne idée que j'ai eu c'est de COPIER son idée de carte faite avec la petite ballerine parce qu'elle est vraiment très très belle!

Voici ce que ça a donné:

So anyway, all that to tell you that the next day it was her birthday and even if we will only celebrate her birthday with friends and family next Saturday, I wanted to give her a special card, just like I do every year. So when I was wondering what a special card would look like this year, I thought of my good friend's CeeCee's first digital stamp: lil' Cee Ballerina. The other good idea I had was to copy her card idea made with this little ballerina since her card is just GORGEOUS! So here's how my card turned out:

Catherine est la pro du coloriage. Moi j'y suis allée au mieux de ma compétence. Disons qu'Arielle n'est pas tombée en bas de sa chaise en voyant la carte, mais c'est correct. Moi je la trouve réussi ma petite ballerine. :) Puis il faut dire qu'Arielle avait plus hâte d'ouvrir son cadeau que d'admirer ma carte. Bon, si c'est comme ça, elle ira tout simplement rejoindre les autres cartes dans son album de bébé. :) Euh...de grande fille! Évidemment!
CeeCee is a colouring professionnal! Me, well, no, I'm not! So I just went with what I could do. Arielle didn't fell off her chair when she saw my card, but I'm ok with that. I think that my card is quite a success! :) Arielle well, Arielle wanted so badly to open her gifts that she didn't really care about observing my nice card much longer. lol So I'll just put it in her baby album, like the other cards. 


Mais l'histoire de la petite ballerine ne s'arrête pas là. Ca fait longtemps que je veux décorer la chambre d'Arielle. J'ai de grands projets depuis qu'on est déménagé, mais comme chaque chose en son temps, ben, la décor n'a pas bougée d'un poil depuis qu'on est emménagé. Ben non, mon chum a d'autres projets pour nos sous que de décorer la maison. C'est un homme! Mais quand même, la chambre d'Arielle, il faudrait bien la faire. Je me dis que ça l'inciterait peut-être à dormir dans son lit toute la nuit?! Donc la chambre d'Arielle.... elle est grise et les rideaux sont jaunes...... et j'ai trouvé ceci et ceci sur Pinterest qui avait attiré mon attention. J'ai donc décidé d'y aller avec des cadres blancs et des trucs encadrés rose et/ou jaune.
But Lil' Cee Ballerina's story doesn't end here. I wanted to decorate Arielle's room since we moved into this house, last October. My husband had other plans for the money we had left so we didn't decorate much, but I figured now is the time to invest a bit in Arielle's room. Maybe she'll want to sleep in her bed if she likes her room?! So I found some inspiration on Pinterest to ge with her grey walls and her yellow curtains: withe frames with pink and yellow things inside the frames. :) 

Vous me voyez venir?? Non??
Bon, bien, j'ai profité de la petite ballerine pour faire un premier cadre pour la chambre d'Arielle. :) J'ai imprimé Lil' Cee Ballerina en un peu plus grand et je l'ai mise dans un petit cadre blanc:
And that's where Lil' Cee comes save the day once again! :) Here's a first frame for Arielle's room:


























Joli n'est-ce pas? Arielle n'a pas aimé ce cadeau. Elle a faillit pleurer, mais moi je l'aime. Et évidemment, c'était pas son seul cadeau alors j'ai sauvé les meubles et on a pas eu de crise, et Lil' Cee et un peu de mon amie Catherine sont maintenant au mur de la chambre d'Arielle. :) Et ma décoration a avancé un tout petit peu. :) Baby steps!! :)
Cute, isn't it? Arielle didn't appreciate it as much as I did making it, but oh well, I'm  all good with that. A little of my friend CeeCee is now hanging on Arielle's wall. :) And my decoration is a step further! Yay!! :)
