Hey everyone!
Welcome to my Project Life 2016! :) I know I showed you a couple other pages already but this is my official first couple page spread. You can quickly access all my Project Life 2016 posts by clicking on the PL 2016 Label on the left hand side of my blog.
So I've been asked how I would do categorize my pages this year. Meaning, will I go back to a weekly approach or will I stick to a monthly approach. My answer: I'm not going back to weekly, that's for sure. I like to be free to add as many pictures as I want, where I want them to be ad not feel a pressure that I "have" to fill some pockets just for the sake of it. So my approach is probably monthly, but really I just add my stories as I feel it. It's as easy as that.
This page here, for example, covers one day. :D The first of January. The left page is about the beginning of the year. And the right page is about us playing in the snow and hot it made me happy to spend quality time with my kids. Now, I feel that I have to say that last year, doing PL this way, I used 2 albums. And the previous years, doing the weekly approach, I also used 2 albums.
For this spread, I used my Citrus Twist Kits Project Life kit.
I even used some of the packaging. I really like how the kit always come super pretty in a beautiful bag with a small label on it. I cut out a 4x6 piece out of it, making sure that the label would be in the middle. To make it sturdier I backed it with a 4x6 cardstock and ran it through my sewing machine. I then stitched the rubber word "happy" on top. It didn't go exactly as planned because the rubber wasn't gliding under the little foot of my machine but I decided to keep it this way anyway. I added a couple of red/pink sequins.
Here you can see that I also used one of the brown paper bag in which some embellishments came. :) That color and texture makes me happy so why not use it?! On the blue card, I added the numbers that i cut out in a patterned paper.
I love this little happy card with the word "begin". I added a little puffy star and stamped "let the year" with my CTK stamp.
A way to write journaling on a picture is to write on small strips of paper. here I also cut out one strip (the black one) from the printable that comes with the kit. I stitched it down and simply glued the other strips.
I've written my word of the year with my Tomboy brush pen and cut around with small scissors. I stitched in place.
On this page I didn't add many details. I liked the white of the snow.
A couple of puffy stickers.
Some embroidery. I made my holes with a pointy and sharp tool and I stitched through the holes. Long, but easy.
And a blank card is perfect for journaling. A little bit of stitching and calligraphy to add a little bit to the card.
That's it for today. :)
Take care,
Marie-Pierre
