Memory Planner - by Heidi Swapp

Hi everyone!
I'm happy to pop in here to show my latest addition to my ongoing scrap projects: the memory planner, by Heidi Swapp.
I received it as a gift from Heidi when I was attending the Play event, hosted by Big Picture, following CHA in Anaheim.
The conference Heidi gave before we could unwrap our present was fabulous. Her speech touched my heart very deeply and convinced me (as if we would need to be convinced!!) that what I do, memory keeping, is VERY important! Really, even if we all know that our albums are worth gold, I for myself often feel like when I scrapbook, I'm steeling time to my family, because it could be time I would spend with them, instead of being on my own, in my scrap room, but really, what we do is much more than "just" art and crafts…. when we scrapbook, we have the power to stop in time any moment we'd like, in order to remember it later. It allows us to stop the blur of everyday life and looked passed the loads of laundry, the cooking, the picking up of the mess to see what really matters.

And she launched a new tool to help us do that even more easily and it's called a memory planner. It's a calendar with protector pages in between the months that allow us to add pictures and bits and pieces of life and with some pages with places to write more if we wish to.

I just finished my month of January and I'd love to share it with you.

Heidi is so real and generous. I adore her!

And with her memory planner she has some really cute chipboard elements, die cuts, stickers, rub-ons, labels, stamps….everything we love! :) And everything we need to embellish our album. :)

January:

Every month starts with a page full of prompts and place to write more! Every month is different and awesome.

Then comes a divided page protector for photos and memorabilia. The sizes of the pockets change from month to month.

And finally there's the calendar:

I use it to write one little thing a day. You could use it however you like. You could fill it for your child, ask him to tell you one thing from his day.

I decided to use it for ME, personally. This way, it's not the same as my PL. This calendar is much more personal and axed on myself while my Project Life Album focusses more on us as a family.

Watercolor background by Marie

Hi everyone!!

Do you remember my blog post about CHA? I told you that one of the things that impressed me the most was the watercoloring effect with the Tombow markers. Well, at home I have every color of the Stampin'UP! markers. I would have been crazy not to try them out for this technique and look at the result!! 

The background was made by scribbling on a plastic square with a yellow and a pink marker. I then sprayed a little water with a mini mister and I flipped the plastic over and "stamped" with it on my background (with a mask over my stamped image. The yellow and pink mixed together to form some orange. I added one owl that I mounted with foam dots to give some dimension and I added a little banner and some sequins. Easy. :)

Hope I can inspire you a little with my cards. :)

Crazy for you - a digital kit translated in paper

Hi everyone!
Today I have something special to share with you. :)
For the first time, I made a layout with a kit that was made for digital scrapbooking. The kit is from Peppermint Granberg and is called Crazy for you. It's a BEAUTIFUL kit, right up my alley with it's fresh and yet soft colors and with all it's fun embellishments. I loved working with it.

Here's my page and what I have done:

1. I printed the stars directly on my 12x12 canvas.

2. I printed all the elements on white cardstock.

3. I transformed the title into a .png file and had it cut by my Silhouette. I than traced the word by hand.

4. I reversed the colors on that little strip "once in a" which is originally black on white.

I also changed the size of certain elements, like the hearts.

5. I printed some strips of patterned paper onto vellum which now look like custom washi tape. Woohoo for that!

Finally, and this is not a digital thing, I layered layered layered and I gave some texture to the sides of my papers and elements. That's one thing I brought back in my head from CHA: texture and dimension on a page looks SO good!

Last but not least, I paired this beautiful kit with a picture of the one and only and oh so lovely Heidi Swapp, so I was sure my page would be more than awesome! ;)

Art Impressions challenge: Pop it up

a Birthday Whoot birthday card

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm sharing a beautiful birthday card made with one of my favorite stamps: Birthday Whoot from Art Impressions.

This stamp is so much fun to color and this time I used a technique I have learned at CHA: use your water based markers with a water brush! So simple, and yet I had only used my markers with a blender pen until now, which gives a very different result!

As for the polaroid, I made it using some post-it and a mask. I placed the post-it to form a square, I stamped my owl, masked it and I applied the ink using a make-up sponge.

When I took all the masks away it looked like this:

I just had to outline the contour with a black marker and to color my owl.

I made several cards today with this cute owl and I absolutely adore him! I plan to get many more owls from the same collection.

Embellish with sprinkling

Hi everyone!

Here's a page I made for Get it Scrapped. The challenge was to embellish with some kind of sprinkling.

I'm happy that I got to scrapbook so many pictures once again. :)

As for the sprinkling, there was once a discussion on the Get it Scrapped message board about the technique of sprinkling. About how to make it look like the confetti would have been dropped on the page but really haven't been been… Well, here, I really just dropped everything down, literally and it looked good so I took my glue pen and glued everything down as is. I'm not sure if it's too much. I like the end result and I love every little bit. :)

And I'm so happy I got to use this paper again. (I used it on a layout I had made for Shimelle Laine's blog for a serie of layout involving stitching.) Even if it's the same paper, the look is always different so it's fun to use it again and again. :)

Still have to work on my dripping technique….. the Colro Shine always seems to leave a greasy circle around my drop. There must be a secret I'm not aware of….
